Language In Business - Where Do Stamps Fit In?

EDITING 25.02.2025 0Design with stamps

Our planet has more than 7000 languages, most have between 10,000 to 50,000 words that are combined to form sentences. In our work and personal life, we all want to be able to understand and communicate with each other, but this is no easy task and when you are working in the office, time is money, but mistakes are more money. I will look at how buying a stamp is not just a handy tool around your workspace, but a business resource to improve productivity.

The concept of working in offices began in the 17th Century across cities such as Amsterdam, London and Paris as working from home was the done thing, At the start the office was mainly for professionals such as lawyers and civil servants, but each place had their own practices and of course language. It would continue to be this way with some more professionals coming into an office to work as they seen the benefit of separating personal life and work life. As we forged ahead into the Industrial Revolution more companies required a specified space to conduct business, particularly with the amount of money and prestige that was now involved. With the evolution of business, standardised procedures needed to be put in place to manage operations due to the flow of paperwork including finance documents, HR records, work regulations and much more. We needed to use the same universal language allowing each business to understand what was being communicated. Welcome to the world of stamps!

Where to start?

Although we live in a digital world, paperwork is still important and having been around at the turn of the millennium, we were warned that computers may suddenly stop working. Okay, nothing happened and here we are 25 years later, but the importance of documents are still relevant in business as it will give you peace of mind in case the digital aspect is lost.

What kind of stamps are going to help your business?

Off the top of my head I can think of your basic office phrases such as RECEIVED, PAID, PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL, APPROVED, which will find themselves printed on important documents including invoices, stock checks, import/export paperwork all over the UK. However, the option to create your own office phrases particular to your company will prove invaluable for many years. Stamp Factory offers a range of text only stamps, date stamps and combination stamps for text and date. All which can be customised.

Which one should you choose?

This will depend on your business requirements, maybe the basic office jargon is sufficient, but have you thought about making it more personable to your company? Why not have your business address or job description next to your chosen phrase. This can be handy for approving stock checks if you have the name of the person who stamped APPROVED on the paper. An import file arrives on your desk, use a date stamp with your Signature and imprint the document with RECEIVED ON and your Signature to ensure the paperwork is legal and binding, as well as ensuring responsibility for the person taken charge. Of course, a simple date may be all that you need, then choose the stamper that best suits your needs between the Trodat Printy 4810 and Trodat Printy 4820.

Are stamps only for the office?

Simply put, no, there are plenty of environments where you can use a stamp that will improve your everyday life. Let’s start with education, there is sufficient areas to make marking children’s work more effective as well as providing them with motivation and reward. On Stamp Factory we have recently added to our Teacher Stamp range bringing a wider selection of colourful and stimulating stampers to the classroom. Each of these designs have been made by listening to teachers up and down the country and what they considered as best for schools and their pupils. You are of course free to create your own custom teacher stamp using our various stamp sizes and with the help of our intuitive design wizard, you can add fun characters to your personalized stamp.

Where else can a stamp be helpful?

If you work from home and create wonderful gifts for others such as candles, sweet treats, pottery, furniture and so much more I’m sure, why not add a personalised thank you note to the shopper for purchasing your item. Go further and create your own packaging stamp with a mix of text and logo’s to make it something the customer will remember when they receive it.

To finish of this blog and information on our wide range of stamps, you have read that all you need to do is go onto our website, choose your stamp and personalise using our custom design wizard and we will do the rest, but what if you want to create your own stamp at home or work?

We won’t be offended if you would rather do it yourself, but a great cost saving option is the Trodat range of Printy Typo Stamps, also known as DIY Stamps, that come in 3 sizes for you to pick from. Each kit will give you a self-inking stamp with black ink, tweezers and a character tray featuring multiple letters, numbers and special characters. Communication is key in business and to do this efficiently any tool that can help with this is sure to be an asset. The Stamp Factory present to you a range of custom stamps tailored to your needs to ensure a professional working environment.
